Why did I choose this?

I have been playing sports since the age of 7, which means that it is a big deal to me. Sports are something that I love and live for. I got to the point to where I could have played in college if I hadn't chosen ASU instead. Gender was never really a problem for me in sports until this past semester.

I have been playing intramurals all year and was excited for softball to be coming up. I made a team and all my friends joined. However, with most of them being new to the sport I decided I wanted to join a more competitive league as well. I looked online and saw that the only A league for softball was in the men's league but the rules said that a girl could play on a men's team if there was no equal division offered. I then emailed the intramurals and asked if I could join the men's A league because I wanted tougher competition and women's league didn't have any specific division, just a single league where everyone is mixed. Sadly, I did not receive an email with the news that I had hoped.

Even though there was no Women's A league offered, since there was a generic league I was not allowed to play in the men's league. However, since I did not know enough girls to make a team on my own, I would have had to join as a free agent. The only problem with that was the entire women's league is sorority teams that do not want free agents. Needless to say, because I am a girl I do not get to play in a competitive A league. This is what inspired me to choose this as my problem.
